Trying to decide which socket tester to buy, I like the Socket and See 32 / 34 /36.
I already have a Megger 1553 which has RCD and Zs test.
The highest model seems to detect E/N incorrect polarity is this only if the installation has an RCD?

Assuming you're saying that the highest model can detect E/N swap then I don't see how that's possible from a simple plug in tester on it's own.
Most of them will do the job (assuming you just want a function test for the last part of your testing) I have a simple megger one Megger - MST210

i have the fluke SM300. it don't do N/E reverse, but it has 2 pretty touch buttons, 1 for RCD test and 1 for >50v touch voltage. obviously, these buttons are designed for kitchen fitters.

i payed 20 for a similar 1 ya see on ebay for 5 quid,, but thats when i leaned to hold a screwdriver..... it just tells you polarity and reverses of conductors... and you saying your's has buttons ,,aaaaa

Get one with a buzzer on it for plugging into sockets you cant see and checking which MCB switches that circuit. Until I got a buzzer one I was running up and down stairs all over the place.
(Need one without a buzzer as well cos they are annoying)
They are all much of a muchness really unless you want to do flashy things like testing the circuit!

I got a cheapy kewtech one, does the job, bout a tenner I think.

Cant see the point in all these test functions on a socket tester TBH, if you dont keep it in your toolbox for fear of damaging it because it cost you £50 and need to go to the van everytime you need it, you may aswell go for your MFT anyway.

All I use mine for is ID'ing circuits.
