Was helping a fiend to change some socket outlets, standard white to brushed steel in her kitchen. She only had the house re wired 2 years ago - got the part P paperwork.
This is what we found behind one socket. WTF was the bloke thinking??
Also obviously doesn't bother with grommets.
I also had a look at putting an extra light point to her landing, just by the loft hatch I found a junction box with 5 1.5 t&e going in, a little surprised to find that on a new install. On opening I found a mixture of brown/blue AND red/black!! Obviously there wasn't even a warning on the CCU.
sorry the pic is rotating through 90 degrees, don't know how to change

So what your saying is the cpcs weren't connected to the earth term on the socket? Or were they connected to that connector and pig tailed to the socket earth term? Or no pig tail to the socket?

Did they leave a test schedule at the board or anywhere else? Maybe they just sat in the van and made up the readings.

Typical competetive priced rewire, or poor old customer taken in by the usual pikey fannying.

One was in the earth terminal on the back of the socket outlet, the other was floating just like that in the choccy block. There was no paper work at all by the CCU.
