Discuss Why are my adapters (power transformers) getting so hot? in the Canada area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm talking about those little black boxes with a cord attached to them that usually come with various electronic devices (guitar amps, modems, cordless telephones, etc.).

When I plug in the adapters to my various electronic devices, both the adapters and the devices are getting hot. This has never happened before. Could this mean that there is faulty electrical wiring at my new apartment? Also, is it safe to keep my devices plugged in?

Thank you for your consideration.

Do you have floresent lamps in your house, if you do, are devices still over heating when floresent lamps not used? if they are not then problem might be PF correction capactor blown, this is a guess. That or the new house is warmer than the old one
