Hi all,

Bit of a long shot possibly but can anyone recommend a good Wi-Fi survey tool or software package that isn't going to require a 2nd mortgage!

I have an AP on a stick setup working fine but would like to get something better than one of the iOS Wi-Fi signal strength apps so ~I can do more detailed testing.

Most of the stuff I have found so far runs from about £3.5K up to £60K and for the number of jobs we are talking about it doesn't work ( am also talking to hire companies about hiring the 60K type kit)

Any thoughts welcome

Thanks

Paul

I am putting WiFi networks into ever larger / more complex environments and want to be able to do pre- surveys to optimise coverage / against no of users etc.

Using things like dr WiFi are fine when it’s small domestic but when you are talking about installs in big homes / small hotels I want to see what the RF environment looks like and be able to see Things like SNR and SIR amongst other things.

One of the manufacturers who’s kit install recommended Ekahau’s survey software but this is thousands of pounds.

I am currently looking at NetSpot as this is a relatively low cost and can do heatmapping and limited Analyzer functions.
