Yes it would be tested by myself also......I just mean so the job is notified, do they mind which way it has been notified?

Getting the BCO in they test the work for you also though.......
that is completely different.
bco will be there to prove your work is up to scratch.
you are trying to prove to an assessor that YOUR work is up to scratch so it needs to be your job and your name on the cert

You test it and write the results down yourself. forget the napit guy altogether and just sign it off after you have had your inspection with niceic.
make it simple for yourself mate.

Cheers dim_bulb. Main worry is though if I do that then he asked me if it has been signed off by part p and it hasn't what would my come back to that be?

you sign it off after registration with niceic.

I paid £235 for lbo to sign off my work prior and when i had my assessment he said you could have done it with the niceic. this was domestic installer tho. only had mine a week ago.

Thanks! That's what I am going for domestic installer, 9th June. What sort of examples did you show him? I was advised two major jobs but I have heard on here of some people showing say a c/u change with a new circuit then a minor works I.e moving a socket...?

I know one guy... quite a good DI infact.
Used the same shower install in his Mum's house on 4 different assessments!!.
He either went from Elecsa to NIC or vice versa and didn't have the same assessor one than once. He's probably still using it for his assessments!!!!

you should have had a confirmation pack that tells you exactly what they are expecting to see. thought you had to give them 2 addresses prior to first visit also??

if you get a jobsworth he will expect you to have gone down the correct route with your jobs, notifying labc before work starts and getting the correct building notices in place.
another spark cant put his name on the job as it would then become his job and not yours.
i also know of people that have notified their jobs after passing the assessment so make sure youve got another time from the date on cert to notify within 25 days.

I did notify them of the addresses but I can't use them now as the housing group we contracted for went bust and repossessed etc so just going to use whatever I have over the next four weeks as I have up untill 48 hours prior to the assessment to change.

I think I am just going to do the cert myself then! And hope I get reasonable assessor, if I complete the job say a week before my assessment then I will well be in the 25 days by the time they set me up etc.

Thanks guys

2 weeks ago I was paying £560 for two BCO visits
Last week was paying £150 for two certs from a napit member
Now I ain't paying nought! Cheers!!

I have heard from a Napit member that he can now certify other people's work, but have not tested this out and have not got any confirmation apart from his word - I do trust him though, he's a mate.

I thought that was an optional extra you had to pay NAPIT for?? and is only if the LBC allows?
