Discuss Wind turbine tech's in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

On shore, doing some research at the mo. Would love to get into it after my studies. Any ideas what type of skills they would be looks beside electrical?

Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Meteorological, battery / storage / pumped storage and control systems. The electrical is the easy bit!

For onshore, the big growth area will be in storage technology, wind has a very bad rap at the moment because the reliability of supply and efficiencies are unpredictable / very low.

In the UK the big growth will be in offshore and designing the systems grid connection (where the wind is there isn't usually a heavy grid connection point) and the ability to cope with the elements during construction , operation and maintenance.

I've just left siemens wind power. The money's crap 26000 per annum to lead a team and be responsible for permits etc. You get paid one pound per hour more than a trainee!!

I'm not sure where your getting your info and if you worked at siemens you got ripped off no offence man but you can double that number and be closer

I am Ex Royal Navy Weapon Engineer Trained in mechanical electrical hydraulic and pneumatic engineering and I have a interview with Siemens next week it is a trainee wind turbine comptenecy interview what should I expect at the interview and how can I prepare ? I was only in the Navy 3 years and only level 2 NVQ qualified is this a disadavantage ? I sent my CV with little hope of getting the interview but did which i was amazed at

Hello Socalmafia,

Do you work at Siemens? If so could you tell me what salaries you can expect for Wind Tech. Is it more than the 26k mentioned above? Cheers

We now supply a range of wind turbines we currently require resellers. ISTA.jpgiso-accreditation.jpgwind dia 3.jpg

A bump on this post does anybody work for Siemens or know their going rates for various Wind TurbineTechs. Any info would be helpful.
