Never heard that term… and wonder why it doesn’t get censored like the dogs -------s, otherwise known as the mutts nuts.

I know them only as wire nuts or the brand name “scru-its”

'Scruit' was the brand name of the most common British make and became a generic term for 'porcelain thimble connector'. We never called them wirenuts over here during the era when Scruits were on sale. Likewise I don't think the Scruit brand made it to the USA, where AFAIK they have always been called wirenuts.

One of the great things about language is the variety of terms that come up for the same thing, and not just across the pond. I remember working for multiple companies and almost needing to learn a new language each time as each had their own name for things.

Even different parts of the UK can have different names for the same things.

For example, I would call myself “Scottish” whereas someone from , say, Liverpool would call me something completely different…..

🤨
The term "Barbarian" instantly springs to mind. 1645691966638.png 😎😎

Porcelain Dog Cocks and an Insulator. On the second image, the brand name of the Dog Cock can be made out.
