Wiring For An Electric Hob

Hi all,

I've just purchased a 2nd hand hob. I thought it would be a case of simply plugging it in, but unfortunately it has no plug and needs to be wired up to some wall unit.

What's the reason for electric hobs not having plugs?

They need a bigger supply(sometimes 32Amps) than a 13A plug can handle.

probably draws more than 13A. you probably need a dedicated 32A circuit and isolator.

Would this mean running a new cable from the consumer unit, and then wiring it to that?

Are the majority of modern electric hobs like this?
