Hi Guys,

Just joined the Forum to get some help, but also to widen my general knowledge on electrical matters that come up from time to time.

My main hobby is woodwork and within that, operating a scroll saw, or fretsaw as they were called many years ago.

I was advised to buy a foot switch to improve operating the saw and I have just bought one but not sure how to wire it up. It is a momentary type switch and has three points to connect wires, Com 1 - No 3 and NC 2.

Which way do I wire these terminals to get the correct operation with the scroll saw to work when the foot switch is depressed.

It seems thre is no earth connection, so should I put a screw in the metal case even though it is made of aluminium? This is the switch http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00EDK2CRM/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=569136327&pf_rd_s=l

Thanks

Alex

The wiring would usually go on terminals No & Com. An earth may or may not be required, it depends on several things. I'd strongly recommend you get an experienced sparky to connect this switch, nowadays if you work on any machinery and someone is injured or killed because of your handiwork then you're criminally liable and there can be jail time.
