fit a FCU, then to timer, then out to heater.
 
The easiest way to do that is to buy a tubular heater with a built-in thermostat, then fit a FCU next to the socket, or just plug the heater in.
 
For frost protection you may be better off fitting a frost stat

Whatever stat you wire in,perhaps mount the stat on a pattress and make connections in the back
