I am 27 years old, based in London, with aspirations to qualify and work as an electrician. I apply myself well with a strong work ethic and problem solving abilities, and have a serious desire to learn and succeed.
I recently left a job with EDF where I worked in metering, both gas and electric, but quickly found the work somewhat lacking in terms of the technical scope, and far too easy - nobody wants to be a meter monkey for long! Despite several letters to various departments within the company to request funding for a college course, EDF were unable to offer me anything more.
Frustrated by the lack of interest from my employer I took the decision to fund college myself to complete these qualifications and I am currently studying for my City and Guilds 2365 Level Two, with intentions to progress to Level Three next year.
Many hours have been spent travelling around London in a van, navigating its streets and neighbourhoods and attending customers homes, and have always taken great pride and care in my work, treating each household as if it were my own. I am articulate and communicate effectively with everyone I encounter, regardless of background, profession, age or ability.
At present I am looking for work with various electricians and contractors in the London area to gain as much experience as possible to complement my studies. I have the humility and desire to learn everything I can and more about the industry and can provide nothing better as a testament to this than offering to do a free days work to demonstrate my worth.
I attend college Monday and Tuesdays and I am working for another electrician on Fridays, but outside of those days I am available (Wed, Thurs and Sat) - with my own tools and PPE, my own transport, and on time. I am happy to travel anywhere within the M25 or beyond for the right role.
Please get in touch if you have or are aware of any opportunities!
