Hi all :D

Hope you are all doing alright.

I'm working on the forum for the next couple of weeks.

I will number the problems as they're found and agreed are a problem. You guys can reply and suggest stuff, and i'll add things to the list as we move forward.
  1. Number One HAS to be the Google Ads showing over some posts, for some people, on some browsers, some of the time. I think I've fixed this already, but it needs a day or two for me to say it is actually fixed so I'll leave it here.
  2. On a PC or laptop with big screen size, the forum looks busy. Too many menus maybe, maybe too many forums - or name of them too long? What do you think?
By all means contribute to this thread, but if you do, hit the reply button on the post you are replying to as I can see this thread getting long and confusing.

Anyway,

Thanks for using this forum whoever you are - YOU POSTING HERE HELPS THOUSANDS WHO JUST READ! So keep posting and replying. It all helps.

All I see is three smilies and a thumbs up 😄😆🤣👍
All of them including the weird animals etc. used to work

Good point, i only ever looked at the 1st tab. The others seem empty 🙈

There are quite a few smilies and things though. Perhaps depends on device and browser?

My smiley problem is recent. Last week or two, so either both my devices, (win11 edge or iphone11) have both decided to stop using them, or a recent change to the forum.

This what I get on both ;

It’s not a massive problem as I can use keyboard shortcuts ;) It’s not as important as ads that shouldn’t be there.

Smilies always work fine for me 😀😃😇🙃
The other site thread reply email notification shows the first line of the reply which is very helpful this site does not. Sight of the first line reply I find very useful as it allows replies to be prioritised, delayed or ignored. Wikipedia has a List of Emoticons some of which can be used: when the text is inserted a drop down list appears giving the available choice however it does not always represent established practice. When I copied and pasted the hyperlink from a third party BB Code Editor it did not insert properly as it does on the other site. I had to use the menu bar 'Insert link (Ctrl+K)' plus I had to underline it manually. The text that produced the metal emoticon 🤘 should conventionally have been surprise ':-o'.

@Dan have you been fiddling around with the code again?

New drop down ad on safari iPhone 11
Sometimes drops in front of forum menu buttons, which isn’t helpful.

My wife and I are currently experimenting to see if our phones, or Alexa are listening to us.
We know that if anyone in the house searches online, or visits a specific online store…. Then adverts for this subjects eventually crop up on this forum, and other sites.

We have been talking about a certain foodstuff, in a certain flavour… and are waiting for it to appear. I obviously can’t mention exactly, or it’ll spoil the experiment.

So far, I get a lot of adverts for Lego from Amazon, and she gets a lot of house clearance and skip hire companies for some reason. :D

On it. It's a google setting mismatch.
