P

PVKitsDirect

A system to control an immersion heater from excess generated PV power.

The control unit uses a clamp round the mains at the meter and wirelessly turns on the immersion element. The existing immersion isolator is replaced with a new fascia with the wireless gubbins inside.

So, no new wiring is required.

Would it need Part P?

Thanks - the only thing it might need is a 13A supply near the meter to power the controller.

That obviously would require Part P - correct?

If you are just adding a socket or an FCU to an existing circuit (not in a kitchen/bathroom/outside etc) then you would not need to notify the change under part P, it would just need the usual electrical installation inspection testing and certification.
