Extending ring mains on top of plaster

Thank you for the speedy response! Have seen them on top of plaster in steel conduit before but guess it's not a common desire to have wires clipped hence there isn't much out there on it :) Going to keep the original socket (as much as I love a WAGO), I just always try and reduce the number...

Extending ring mains on top of plaster

Essentially I have a "normal" socket in a ring mains, i.e. one 2.5mm T&E going in and one 2.5mm T&E going out. I am looking to simply add two more sockets. Easy enough from a wiring perspective. But my question relates to the location of the wiring itself. The sockets will be cut into a new...

Wardrobe door sensor & LED lights

Next week I'm starting to build a few built-in wardrobes for the bedrooms and I've hit a brick wall on the lightning element. Normally I run 1.5mm 2-core from a junction box to the different LED strip light locations, and then from the junction box to the LED driver and from there to a...

First fix bedroom lighting - locations

I hear you but my experience with (multiple) electricians has not been a sure fire way to success unfortunately. The walls are down, I've got wiring routes planned, I know sensible locations for downlights et Al. I'm simply trying to ascertain if there is a best practice for location for first...

First fix bedroom lighting - locations

Hello Finally getting round to add more light circuits to the bedrooms beyond the existing one pendant. Most of it fairly easy, but 2 things are not 100% on: 1) wardrobe lights: where do you normally clip the wire for it to protrude from the plaster i.e. anywhere behind the future wardrobe...

Multiple dimmable switches and circuits connected

Right had good dialogue with Varilight on this. It seems not possible in the format I want because LED tape requires TRIAC Leading edge dimmers and LED downlights require Trailing edge i.e. no easy fix to have them combined to same switch. No big deal, have decided to just make the main room...

Multiple dimmable switches and circuits connected

One more to add... 3) the 2x bedside switches will be 3-gang modular dimmers with 1x 1-way for the bedside light and 2x 3-way for the other 2 circuits and other 2 switches. Basically at the intermediate switch for example I will have 6 wires (4x straps consisting of 1mm T+E as well as the 1x...

Multiple dimmable switches and circuits connected

Getting around to bedroom lighting, what I would like to achieve is: Circuit 1: pendant light (centre of main ceiling) Circuit 2: LED tape and LED downlights (in dropped ceiling with tape in coving and downlights in the dropped ceiling) Circuit 3: bedside light left Circuit 4: bedside light...

Yup. I just can't get the logic. Who would do that and thinks it is the best place.

    Made me jump!

Been a while since I've been able to add to this thread (thankfully). Ripping out a partition in a downstairs toilet and reminded why I like to do it myself... Slowly Was not expecting the inside of the door frame to be used as a route, nor for the partition frame to be butchered for access...
