No power to part of the consumer unit

So it was a poor connection between the busbar and the RCD - hence my pressure on the RCD was making the connection.

I guess it doesn't really matter what the issue is - as you quite rightly point out, I'll need to get an electrician in regardless. Thanks for your time and help.

Thanks for the reply. I had read about that, so have already fully switched it off and on multiple times. I am quite certain that it didn't even trip when the power went out.
