Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

are the overhead lines still off, then?
I hope. We've been working on them today. The cherry picker is fixed (knackered relay that feeds the ecu) but the sites picker that we were using while ours was off sprung an oil leak. Threres a fitter here now repacing 2 hoses.

A little EICR test project :) Ive been working on. My money invested . 5 different testers . The differences in their "findings " are shocking. They where all out to try and get extra work from a fully "vetted " set up. Its a shame to see so many lie and cheat to try and force a customer into accepting the costs in order to gain a "satisfactory " pass . One of them a big player in London (lets call them "H" ) and they came out the worst . I am going to throw it all up to the media and see what they say :)

Would be interested in seeing the redacted reports listed in the arms.

Actual phone call I had this week kind of agrees with you.

Him “Can you do an electrical safety check on a property we are buying? We’ve got 5 days to flag up any problems”

Me “yes… I can do an EICR”

Him “yeh. One of those. Can you tell me how much?”

Me “ I’m X pounds per hour, and it can take up to 4 hours or more, depending on size”

Him. “We had one done at our last place, and it only took him an hour… and that was bigger. This is just a 2 bed house”

So I see where you’re coming from. EICRs are an art form, and only the experienced can get it right…. It’s just a job convincing the layman that the last bloke couldn’t have done it right

one of them might be seeing a letter that is also been sent to NICEIC on the grounds of possible "extortion " . He was challenged about the height of the building /floors and in his answer wrote he would not accept the facts and in order to get a "satisfactory "/pass he wanted to fit AFDD's where not needed at a cost of nearly £700.As per post about it a few weeks ago !. IT is such an easy scam for these companies . One company ("H") wanted nearly £2k and they also have some questions to answer !!!

I'm sorry to hear that Pete. Hopefully you'll get more information about it soon and treatment.

Today it is Friday and I am returning to Yorkshire for a few days to see some family so I hope you all have a great weekend - try not to do too many odd jobs!

Sort of my last day 'to myself' (have a ton of things to do!) before disappearing until Sept! Have a tour around Europe that effectively starts tomorrow (although unusually I do get to be home next weekend) which runs until early June, leave the end of that and on the same day go to Morocco for three days, then home for about a week before the madness of Glastonbury starts but thankfully before the gates open to the public I'm off to the States until mid August, then the same happens and I've another job starts out there literally as the other one finishes so I'll just stay on out there and be back sometime middle of Sept. I'll have to see if I'm passing @Megawatt on my travels.....

So expect lots of 2am posting on here.

My eldest is jumping up and down because some K-pop group is going to be main stage at Glastonbury this year….but the tickets are out of her reach.

Any freebies? Ahem….

When did glasto go so pop and less guitar bands?

It's a quiet week for me. Got a weeks holiday so we've come down to our holiday chalet near Minehead in Somerset. No doubt it'll rain every day.

Sounds great! I am visiting my family near York and left Dan at home! He'd still got my nose to the grindstone!!

She can have mine if she wants, I can't stand the place!! It's just one huge big commercial festival with a few old hippies kept back for nostalgia and marketing purposes. All the main stages are largely paid for by the BBC as they syndicate the broadcasting and the vast majority of contemporary artists and their crews hate the place and will try to be as in and out again as quickly as possible!

And - pop acts are cheap to put on, real bands take more time and more crew!!

'Fun' facts.... When complete, the festival has a larger footprint than the city of Bath and well over 300,000 people. The on-site hospital is better equipped and staffed than neighbouring NHS hospitals. It takes roughly six months to build and two months to clear down, every time. It's not just Michael Eavis's land, there's something like 8-9 farms in total have to be paid off. The reason why there's such a big thing about 'don't pee on the land, use the toilets' has little to do with hygiene or farm land - there was a study done a few years back that there's so much MDMA from the festival site expelled into the water table that it was leaking into the local rivers and causing infertility in fish. Local schools actually close for the end of the week as they recognise that most local parents are either a) working/volunteering at the site in some way or b) won't be arsed with attempting to navigate the traffic for the school run (also applying to teachers).

who pays to go ??? Just work for the BBC they send HUNDREDS of staff according to the office that issues tickets to them .Or do what we use to do. Rock up in a large lorry , create a diversion , check otherside of fence and then drive through and head up to the "green field" !

Bloodstock would provide a good range of guitar bands if she could hold off until August.

I’m afraid by August she will be teaching English to South Koreans in Soull itself, fingers crossed.
She can see as many of her dancing puppets as she likes over there.

Between her with k-pop, the middle one with Eurovision and the youngest with west end and broadway show tunes…. It’s no wonder the Alexa is getting confused.
I asked it to play Pearl Jam… and I got Pump Up The Jam

The band Disturbed is being used on a advert recently, so i played them the entire song... Apparently its all fun screaming the "WA-A-A-A" bit at the beginning.... but not the rest of "Down with the sickness"....

Just spoke to her... and its some k-pop band that she really wanted to see... had tickets for a London show, and it all got cancelled because of Covid starting. They are called Seventeen... and there's thirteen in the band..... Thats like 5ive from the 90's now only having 3 members and S-Club 7 having only 5.....

So, @Rockingit , if you could grab any Seventeen merch..... she would be very happy.

Sit them all down, turn the volume up and play 'The devil in I' by Slipknot. That'll sort 'em out 🤣
Mini-me got introduced to Nirvana when she was about five, as 'entry level' not pop. Teen Spirit became a road anthem on the school run for a while. Proud Dad.

Have you heard them do this....

That's a fantastic version of that song. There's a live version on an American show on Youtube. Draimans voice really suits that song.

The sun is out. Looks like a nice day for a walk with the dog along the beach. Nothing else planed yet, just a lazy day.

Afternoon everyone!

I have been away visiting family in Yorkshire for a few days - had a great time. How is your holiday @Moley ?

I have just realised it is another Bank Holiday next week, the weather is rubbish I have just been caught in another hail storm!!

Holiday is fine, apart from the wife snooring. Glad you had a good time. It's always nice to have a break.
Bank hol is the week after, 6th May. I'll be driving up to Scunthorpe that day. Tuesday and Wednesday at Keadby then drive down to Kent for Thursdy and Friday.

Good morning from the sunny SNOWY! Scottish Borders.

Running in some cables for radial heater circuits in an old ex council house. Plenty room under the floor, but the holes in the sleeper walls aren’t big enough for me to get through.

When did I get so wide.

There’s another section under the floor with no holes in the wall at all, so carpets back and floorboard up.

To top that, I somehow fell out of bed last night… (or was I pushed?)
Missed the dogs bed (and the dog) by inches, but caught my shoulder on the bedside table

Happy Sunday everyone!

@littlespark how is your shoulder? I have done that myself before.

It is cold and wet and windy - I don't know when the Spring is meant to kick in but I hope it is soon!

Shoulder is ok. Not sore now, but there’s a a bit of a chunk out the skin.

Still don’t know how it was that shoulder… the way I fell, it would have been the other one that hit first.

Raining non stop today. Typical Sunday.

Start of a new week! Anyone still on holiday?

Quite a lot of stuff to do today so I had better get started!

Nope, but I’m on my way to an airport for work. Very much looking forward to some warmer days!

The sun is out with fair weather Cumulus in Kent today, was thinking of going fishing, but the river is still high and fast and there is no fly activity, so may give it a miss for a couple of more days.

About to do rental EICR remedials from someone else's report....joy!

Two FI's to look into
1 - apparently a radial circuit in same breaker as a ring
2 - apparently two rings sharing B32 breaker

However I am taking this report with large pinch of salt as I can't believe the IR figures of >999M for all circuits in a Victorian terrace with 70's wiring.

Morning all!

Polling day - schools are closed today! Round here there is just one election for a Crime commissioner - whatever that is!!

Bank Holiday Weekend this weekend yay!

Morning all. Isn't he that bloke out of The Batm'n? (The Goldbergs Pronunciation)
Gordon. The bloke with the big bat spotlight….

No elections in Scotland…. Which was confusing considering all the ads that have been on tv… I thought it was Uk wide up until last night.

Oh Yeah Commissioner Gordon! Forgot about him but I am more of a Marvel Gal myself!

Happy Friday Everyone! I hope you all have a great Bank Holiday!

Miami GP this weekend woohoo!

Morning. Having to Suffer the west coast today 😂

Came home from my week at work yesterday. So far today I've washed a stack of dishes left by the family, washed and hung out 1 load of washing (2nd load is in), cleaned the pond filter, soaked and scrubbed my overalls ready to go in the washing machine. I'll be glad to go back to work Monday for a rest.
BTW, happy Star Wars day

Yes, happy Star Wars day…. “Live long and prosper”, “I’ll be back”, “it’s bigger on the inside”, “smeg head” and all that….
