Maybe someone could shine some light on the subject.
It would depend on what is considered to be an appliance.Guys I’m struggling to find one item which use electric power but it’s not considered an appliance. Is there anyone who can give me a such example?
From ECA.
An electrical appliance is defined within BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) as:
‘An item of current-using equipment, other than a luminaire (light fitting) or an independent motor’
An appliance, in the general sense, is an electrical or mechanical machine which accomplishes a specific function.
No, I was thinking today for an explanation or better say, an example to a problem I have to explain to somebody who doesn’t know much about electrics, and I was thinking about using appliances as example and non appliances and then I realized that crossed my mind so far it is categorized as appliance. So I’m thinking that what it is a non appliance then? Lol, I probably confused everybody nowIs this for course work?

Unfortunately an immersion heater it is for sure categorized as an appliance. I really believe this is an extremely challenging question if not even impossible. Hmmm…It would depend on what is considered to be an appliance.
A dishwasher maybe considered to be an appliance, An immersion heater may not be.

Tell me then…Don't worry, Snowhead has got the answer!
Tell me then…
Yes, well done… but again, I didn’t asked what is an appliance, I want to know what it isn’t considered as an appliance…Nicely found!

Bulb/lamps… well I was thinking about that at some point. But still arguably, and I’m sure the opinions are split about that. It’s like an oven, you have the machine but without the heating element it’s just a metal carcass. Same with a kettle, right? I don’t know … I would like some which without doubts it’s considered a non appliance. Would be a grass cutting considered an appliance?Maybe someone could shine some light on the subject.
I will take that… I think if it’s written in the electricians Bible then I’m happy with thatNicely found!
Yeap, that’s a good one, I didn’t think of it either. Thank you for thatAn immersion heater isn't an appliance, it is a heating element which may be used as part of an appliance.
As already mentioned luminaires and lamps are not appliances.
Protective devices such as RCBO's and AFDDs use power but are not appliances.
Yes, I admit and I take it as a good answer. Well, I asked for one item, and I got two already, Luminaries and protective devices (aka RCBO , AFDD) I’m more than pleased. I will still keep the subject on for a bit to see what else I can find out there!!! Thank you thoughAn appliance is something 'other than a luminaire. So therefore a 'not apppliance' is............

This must be for your Level 3…….!!!!Guys I’m struggling to find one item which use electric power but it’s not considered an appliance. Is there anyone who can give me a such example?
The slang of the term ‘Dirty Electrics’, (don’t know who named it that). is that annoying in-balance that trips your RCD/RCBO when to many DC devicesDirty electrics? Never heard of it. A dirty supply would have noise on it though - is that what you mean?
