The Launderer

As a company already in the home energy market we got accreditation for PV and solar thermal about 3 weeks ago. This was seen as the first stepping stone in taking the business into most if not all of the renewable technologies.

We were just finalising our marketing plans when the government pulled the rug from under us. We have quoted a few jobs and were possibly looking to bring them forward and at least recover some of our set up costs.

What we have encountered is a complete lack of confidence from customers. Comments like "if they can make cuts like this at such short notice how can we have confidence that our agreed tax free indexed linked FITs are going to be honoured for the next 25 years?"

Who am I to look a customer in the eye and say the Government wouldn't mess around with the agreed FIT payments? After whats happened I have got no trust in this Government.

We will continue with our plans but I wonder if the damage done this week is going to impact on all the other Renewables Technologies?

Hey Launderer.

I hadn't thought about that from the business side of things. My heart goes out to you and all the newsly set up companies.

I'd just about decided to do an MCS installation course until this announcement. I guess we all knew the announcement was coming, but it's very harsh.

Is it worth training in this field now? Should I shell out on course fees, testing equipment and kit etc.???

Anyone else wondering if its worth it now?

Cheers.

Ok, Just read the RED HOT thread on the matter. (it's got to be a record for this forum - number of posts on a thread in a week????).

Anyway .... no, I won't be training to install PV/Solar Thermal. Change of plan.
