HV Schneider Breaker

Hi all,

We have a HV Schneider GenieEvo breaker, on the name plate, this device is rated for 50Hz. What would happen if we used a 60Hz supply? Can the 50Hz breaker be able to take 60Hz.

Perhaps. Ask Schneider technical support for that specific model and they should be able to tell you if it can, and if there are any changes to its ratings such as max PFC, etc.

Since they are VCBs the breaking capacity should be similar/identical between 50 and 60hz, however the overall switchgear will contain CTs and possibly VTs , these are likely to be specific to a particular frequency.

I'd say definately not compatable unless it states 60Hz in the spec sheet or you get confirmation in writing from Schneider tech support.

pretty sure from memory they are indeed designed to work on both frequency's, Best check with Schneider but I think they will work on 60 HZ
