I have done some simple wiring in my flat and garden. I joined the forum to see what DIYers are doing. Now having looked around a bit in the DIY section I am a quite surprised about how advanced is the stuff which DIYers are tackling. There are clearly a lot of skilled people here.

Hello and welcome. I'd like to say that collected here is an assembly of the finest electrical minds available, mostly still actual practising electricians who know what we're talking about. Except the problem with that is it wouldn't be entirely true as my mind is mostly in the gutter.

So is mine. I would like to be able to quote Oscar Wilde:
"we are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars"
But in reality it is more Ray Davis:
"Rudolph Valentino looks very much alive
And he looks up ladies dresses
As they sadly pass him by"

Worked with Ray Davis, briefly, a looooong time ago. The origin of the guitar distortion pedal came from one of his mates having sat on his mums sofa and accidentally poking one of her knitting needles through the cone of his guitar amp. Fascinating history.
