Run vehicle air con on mains hook up

Hi I wanted to run my car air con on a hook up at a camp site. Could I buy a mains hook up kit and run a charger to my vehicle battery. Would that work? I guess it would depend how much the charger is putting into the battery, what rating charger would I need.

Short answer is NO

the air con is driven from a belt directly from the engine.

the Complexity of adding motors, and dealing with cooling etc would make the job prohibitively expensive.

if you need air con then there are units designed for caravans that may suit you.
