Your test sounds sensible in principle. I didn't see the exact test my electrician did - but he did have my consumer unit (RCD) open at the time. The problem is that no matter which circuits are switched on or off, there is no mains voltage at the socket... and, while I've not done my own...- ASteve

He told me that he'd checked continuity and that all three are broken. I was nearby - but I wasn't looking over his shoulder while he did tests involving the consumer unit. I'm not 100% sure exactly how he tested continuity of the cable between the conservatory and the house - as we still only...- ASteve

Thanks for your reply. Yesterday, I admitted defeat... I accepted that I couldn't work out where the cables were routed and I couldn't find where the conservatory wiring was connected to mains electricity in the house. I hired a local electrical contractor to come in and 'fault find'. This...- ASteve

Thanks for the reply - though it mostly just confirms that I've got the problem I've got. Downstairs I don't think wiring could be sub-floor - as the floors are solid concrete. Upstairs there are floorboards - but having lifted them I can't find any wiring or junction boxes. I've looked...- ASteve
