    Theres every possibility that your oven is plugged in, if this is the case I would connect the hob to the cooker circuit and then stick another socket in for the oven.

    Impossible to say without having a look, does you have a cooker switch that turns your cooker on and off? if so then you may be able to connect it to that but it all depends on what its already supplying. Call an electrician and he'll be able to check and connect if it is possible.

    no I mean the light switch, if it has a neutral in it then check you haven't caught it with the screw when replacing it.

    If it was run from the consumer unit then it requires an electrical installation certificate and it is also notifiable to labc. if it was added to existing sockets then it requires a minor electrical works certificate.

    Its an addition to the electrical installation as a whole. if they've added lights and sockets then you would also need a certificate with a minor works being the minimum. Maybe the hob is on a new circuit and was installed by an electrician and the rest has been chucked in by the kitchen fitters.

    £400 - £600 for a straightforward swap. That's for rcbos. cost more if bonding needs doing or any faults are present.

    go on Napits website and search for a local electrician who does third party certification. They must be involved before any cables are run and must inspect at first fix and second fix. They will then test and certify it.

    Who goes out and buys an earth leakage tester rather than call an electrician? also he uses too many correct terms and knows too much to not be involved much more than he's letting on.

    I wager it transpires that the builder carried out the first fix and it all needs ripping out and starting again because its not been done correctly.
