Does anybody know of anything like this over here in the UK for Android phones - would do away with the need for Cheques and ensure payment is made with the customer present if they had no cash. Great for emergency callouts

Sounds like a great idea, but we are a third world country now, so will be another ten years before we see it.

How many people would use this type of payment method in the UK?

I think I may have found a way to supplement my income - design the uk variant and sell the app for 4.99 for lifetime use.

Just need to get the banks to agree to use something like this

There isn't an Android app for card payments.

We're looking at the possibility of using something like Paypal, or Sagepay on the web site for customers to pay their bills, though it really only affects around 30% of our customer base, who are small enough to want to pay by card.

At least in that way, I guess, you could dial up your website on the Android, and get them to pay that way....clunky, but a step forward from not at all.

I too think we're getting way behind the times on what are, essentially, some fairly basic "first world" haves.....and maybe we're definitely hitting second tier after all.

Get a PayPal merchant account and virtual terminal. Buy one of those little notebook computers and an internet dongle. Then when they say 'oh, I don't have any cash, only a card' log onto your paypal account and get them to enter their card details.:D

Simples ;)

Steve.

Sounds good.. I'd of done this if I didn't have to pay £20 a month fee and then 3.4% fee on each transaction..

I don't suppose the transaction fee is too bad but I'm not paying £20 a month

just seen google checkout 3.4% plus 20p per transaction might be the way forward

£3.60 for a hundred quid.....

Might be worth looking at Sagepay, and some of the "merchant" acc's available online too - Worldpay, Netbanx, and always worth going to your bank and seeing if they can better the rate Google/Paypal have offered. Most banks can provide online transactions and virtual terminals too.

Trying to setup the google checkout.. im lost!!

It seems you can only make a payment through your own website for a specific item..

Cant see an option to make a one off payment for any amount through the checkout..
maybe im missing something obvious.. anyone else have this setup?

The best i can do is email an invoice... I can enter any amount i want on the invoice for the customer..

But that doesnt help me when i change a C.U for an elderly couple who has no internet access and just hand there card over to me.

Never mind having to set up a google account to pay my invoice.

i just want to enter there details into my "google checkout account" and it get deducted from the customers bank account..

Maybe im asking for too much.
