Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

OK so for my fault, I am working on the hypothesis that 1kV is being generated, but not switched to the outputs. I have not probed the meter with an oscilloscope because 1kV will fry it. I have ordered an HV probe so I can poke around and see what is happening to the 1kV. The probe won't be...

Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

It looks exactly the same as mine. It also looks like a part has been cut out. OK does/did your 1000V test work? When I push the button, no relay click and the volt pointer on the LCD display is not shown. I wonder if the 1000V test was factory disabled for all BM222. I don't have a manual...

Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

I think my BM222 has been crippled. The attached image marks where I think a diode should be. The diode has been cut out. It is wired as an OR gate with the adjacent diode. I think it should be a 1N914 small signal diode. Can anyone confirm the missing component is a diode? Part number...

Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

I can see there is a switch mode power supply in that area and around the relay. 1000Vdc is a lot for an electronic component to handle, so it makes sense a mosfet or similar is toast.

OK I will give that a try. It's an oldy but a goody. It is old enough that I can probably still get components for it.

Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

Hi I own a Megger BM222 meter with a fault. It works on the 500V range, but there is no output on the 1000V range. I am trying to figure out what the fault is so I can fix it. On the 500V range, I can hear the internal relay clicking when the button is pushed. When I push the button on the...

Exhibitor Power supply adaptor at NEC

OK so I found this document called the eguide that details what you can and can't do with power at exhibition venues. It has some weird stuff in it, like you can't use a 4 way power strip drawing more than 500W but it makes no mention of 2,3 or 10 way power strips. I came up with a circuit...

Exhibitor Power supply adaptor at NEC

Thanks for the link. I have asked NEC and been told that I can use a UK to NZ power strip, but with no more than 4 sockets, and they won't let me daisy chain them. No point in fighting them on this. I will just make up a junction box with the required number of power cables hard wired to a...

Exhibitor Power supply adaptor at NEC

Volts/freq in NZ are the same as UK. From a technical point of view, putting a UK plug onto a NZ strip is fine but putting an NZ plug on a UK strip is unsafe. NEC standard supply options are up to 1kW from a single plug so a 13A plug fuse is overkill. And for that feeble amount of power they...

Exhibitor Power supply adaptor at NEC

I am aiming to display 10-15 LED displays. I have looked at the option fitting UK plugs and using UK power strips. I'd like to avoid that path.

Exhibitor Power supply adaptor at NEC

Hello I will be an exhibitor at an exhibition to be held at the NEC early next year. I am going to display multiple specialist outdoor LED displays. All of my displays are wired with NZ plugs. I know that I can buy and use a UK to NZ travel adapter at any airport in the UK so there must be...
