Getting Older and Slower
Nearing retirement and have given up working for myself as it was getting just too tiring and taken a job with a housing association, no pressure, limited paperwork, nice and easy slow down to when I eventually stop.- Doomed

Had been running like this for 3 years - we got called in as they never got a cert off the original electrician and he told them to stop pestering him a few months back. When put back correctly we found many isues that caused the RCD's to trip - shared neutrals, pinched neutral to back box in...- Doomed

UK Ferules on stranded cable?
Lots of regulations I don't agree with, but I don't ignore them, ferrules to be used on fine wire and screw terminals (cage clamp ones dont need them)- Doomed

This is where regulations meet commen sense, if the fitting is lighting up the signs at first floor level (like most of them are) then fine, you need at least a ladder to reach them and therefore should know what your doing and at least wont be stood in a puddle of rain water. The low level ones...- Doomed

Now if I had a bathroom where I could touch an exposed 240V lamp I would C2 the fitting, yet these lights we can't decide on. C3 if out of reach, C2 for low level. I dunno, going to sleep on it.- Doomed

See this is where I'm conflicted, to me the IP ratings suggest that 23 would not be suitable for long term outdoor use (in this climate), but the manufacturers have seemingly designed this as an outdoor light. and yet later today went to fit some IP 45 lights in a soffit and got this:- Doomed
