Hello Sparky Overlords,
Wireless switches… should we be thinking about them? Are they good enough to replace hard wired switches? Should all rewires from say 2026/27 be wireless? Or another mod con which isn’t ready and will only cause more problems?
Thanks for any help in advance
Really really great advise! It will always be wired into the lighting at the breaker but it’s good to refresh! By that I mean ran back to the board not just taking from a switch or ceiling rose!
It’s settled the smokes will go on the downstairs lighting RCBO!
Thanks as always electrical over...
Okay so it’s a PME system so ADS could be met via the 6Amp Breaker!
Removing the RCD would mean chasing the cable deeper etc! So if it can go on an RCBO circuit then it’ll go on one! It does make sense to combine it with lights as then it’ll always be switched on 😄
Hi everyone,
I’m installing two smoke alarms and a heat alarm in a standard two-bedroom renovation. I was considering omitting RCBO protection for the smoke/heat circuits since they’re part of a safety system. Does that approach sound correct, or would it be better to integrate them into the...
Westward as always you’re a hero! Can you point me to a regulation about why at 3m they require protection? Why not 2 or 4?
So shorter tails (less than 3 meters) do not require protection? Still a good idea though?
Quick question, Do TT earthing systems consumer tails require RCD protection?
I believe they do, but I rarely see them on short tails? Does it only apply when the tails are over three meter?
Thanks for any help electrical masters 🙏
Hello All,
I have a slightly different question today, I have a customer who has multiple lights without CPCs terminated, the cables completely lack a CPC, however in some rooms they have a CPC and in other rooms they do not, so yes a CPC leaves the board, but does not run to all light...
Thanks all so much! It sounds like the general consensus is, a good crimped connection will be absolutely fine, however wrapping around the connector or making a fork and clamping down is also fine so no real harm either way? As long as all connection are mechanically strong! 😊
Hey All,
At college, I was taught that main bonding - such as bonding to a gas pipe - must be carried out using a continuous copper conductor running directly from the Main Earthing Terminal (MET) to the pipework, with no extensions or alterations permitted. If the bonding cable is damaged or...
