    Ask the gaffer for the HV switching plan, permit to work, risk assessment and scope of works. Chances are they will not be forth coming. What brand of RMU and switch gear are installed?

    It sounds like a head scratcher indeed. If it continues to trip, check if there is a Telecom Cabin on the rooftop somewhere. As these are normally full of AC-DC rectifiers and PSUs. Failing that, get the LL to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report on the subs and LL services.

    Yes , redundancy through out. And yes the VFD board is all DC drilling equipment. You can almost predict when the galley starts preparing meals, as the earth fault alarms ping through when they turn on the grills and hot plates lol!

    As already mentioned, check the CT ratio is correct. Verify they have not used protection type CTs by mistake as these are normally not suitable for metering! And those secondary connections on the CTs need earthed as well for safety!

    Doubt that there will be anything in the Intrinsically Safe standards about this (60079-11) It would depend on the certification for the fitting to be honest. Any that I have seen like this are rated for Zone 1 use. I believe the diffuser switch technically allows relamping in the Haz Area...
