Re: Tell us about your faults ! first of all I would start by measuring the voltage at the main isolator in the consumer unit, check the connections are secure ( they are often loose) check the voltage with everything switched off on the incoming side from the cutout/meter 230/240 v it will...

you also protect yourself by having it tested outside as it where the unit may have other faults that you have not noticed if it goes wrong you could end up getting fried!!

i have seen some of this niciec work!! NICIEC test sticker on the C/U BS951 clamp on the sheath of the incoming lead sheath supply cable to provide the earth!!! gas meter bonded on the supply side I photographed it and scanned the NICIEC book hints adn tips and forwarded it to the body...

it could have an earth to neutral fault on the lighting circuit, sockets, or cooker so even if you unplugged everything the fault is still in place i would also carry out an insulation test between all poles, after isolating smoke detectors and any electronic equipment
