    I have to add some sockets and lights, so certainly want to make sure all is rcd protected. As for upgrading the whole installation, it's mainly old coloured wiring and probably missing a cpc on some of the lighting circuits too but a rewire is not an option at this time...

    No idea why the garage has an RCD at this end, but it can stay put. I would replace the 6 mcb's in use with rcbos. Only need to work on /add to two circuits but why not do the job properly and make sure all circuits are protected?

    Thanks for your help guys. A quick google and 6 of these RCBO's will cost around £216, which is about what a new loaded CU with 8 rcbo's would cost. But labour will be a lot less of course...

    I could only find Schneider ones which don't look like they'll fit (wrong way up) Yes they're C types, think who ever did this was probably more accustomed to industrial work. A metal Cu in a domestic premises before AM3?? Whatever next?

    I've been asked to do some work on a domestic installation. However, it seems all but the shower and garage supply are not RCD protected. Does anyone know if single module rcbo's are available for this Merlin Gerin board or is it gonna have to be changed?

    I looked at them earlier Gavin but it seems the quieter they are the longer they take to dry hands! The best take 10 seconds but these 'kids' ones take 30 or 40 seconds, I can't imagine the kids hanging around that long! And imagine the queue when all the kids come in from outside play and need...

    Thanks Ollie, yes it would've been better to use one of those, but unfortunately I was ill advised and now have to use what I have. If there's a simple way to wire up the existing unit to achieve thermal overload protection then that's the way to go.... don't really need the start/stop options...

    Thank's guys, becoming clearer now :-) So live feed to T1 at top of contactor, Live to pump to 2T1 of overload. Neutral in to T2 of contactor, Neutral to pump from 4T2 on overload. Red flying lead shown in photo to 95NC on overload. And link T3 of contactor to 6T3 of overload?
