    Avo light meter

Came across this tiny old light meter tucked away in stores. There's a side button to change readings to X5. Shame the input glass is broken...but it still gives reading. It's getting on a bit......gives a light source factor for 'gas light'.

    What the eye's can't see?

Heard one on Wednesday....from someone involved. An 85 years old almost totally BLIND lady, whilst not requesting it, had a Test and Inspection carried out by someone representing the housing association who own her property. Later she entered her bathroom and attempted to switch on the shower...

Don't you just love these specialised engineers.

A bit of a problem with a 4 post car lift yesterday. I was in last week and tested it, two 20amp cartridge fuses blown, motor winding shot at. The machine needs no limit switch control, as it's done mechanically via an interlock, automatically operating a start button via a hand lever with...

    Domestics getting involved with industrial........again!

Called to a faulty RCBO feeding power wash unit. It's spurred from a double socket.....but someone's been messing. Why feed the outside canopy from the rcbo incomer? Well... can't fit anymore cables in the socket.... so get the T+E and grommets out and throw something in.

    Signing others' certificates

I,ve been doing some small jobs (a couple of sockets adjacent to con units in stores) for a few months, just a few hours plus travel, for a contact. Still waiting for payment. Seems there's a bit of a problem just appeared. The materials for the jobs arrive by currier in a sealed cardboard box...

Just asking if anyone has heard of Constuction Linx Ltd. Been on asking for a bit of work to be done locally, based about 40 miles away, it seems. Had a look on the 'net, not much detail. Any info welcome. Cheers.

    Question for learners

Looking at a board change, I used my plug tester to isolate an old ring circuit with a spur directly from the 3036 16amp fuse, just doing a few pre tests I found continuity on two live conductors (original ring in 7029), IR no problem. The spur had beed added in 2.5 T+E solid, feeding double...
