What isn't the point of this forum?
For 'experts' like yourself 123 to simply insult and put people down who ask for DIY advise? If so well done, you are indeed an expert in this field.
I clearly stated my connections have followed Richards image to a T, so if my installation is a botch job...
There's no chance I'm touching it to take photo.
It is exactly per Richards amazing art work ;)
Thanks again Richard!!
And to all that couldn't be bothered to offer advice as simply replied "call electrician".........thanks also :)
No I have made the connections using a connector block, the one supplied with the light fitting.
I simply wrapped the already insulated/sleeves wires from the ceiling in tape as one had noticeable snagged.
Ok update.
Wrapped all wires from ceiling in tape, only one was visibly snagged but did all as precaution.
Old rose and metal bracket taken off and using the connector block and metal bracket that was supplied with light and installed directly to ceiling.
All is working fine.
However worried...
If taken the old rose and metal bracket off this morning and can see that a couple of wires have been snagged so assuming that has been causing the issue.
I plan to wrap the wires in electrical tape and attach new metal blacket directly to ceiling as per Richards instructions.
Thank you Richard for taking time to do that I really appreciate it.
I will remove the old rose tomorrow and install directly to ceiling.
I just hope I haven't buggered new light fitting or snagged ceiling wires beyond repair.
I have a family member who is a electrician ( I know I know) but...
THis is the old light fitting and wires of it helps.
Could having the metal bracket the wrong way round be causing issue?
I'll look at removing the old rose tomorrow and installing new bracket direct to ceiling.
Matt
IM not trying to botch anything, I'm just trying to install a new light myself.
The bracket may be the wrong way round? As removed this and put back on before photo.
In Worthing by the way.
I removed the sleeves as I shortened the cable and removed out of block supplied
Sorry photos are here;
I do t want to offend anyone, (other than myself) but this really can't be that hard to warrant a electriacian, I'm literally swapping like for like.
The photo (with colour lines) is of ceiling fitting , it has a block which I took the colour wires out (it worked fine)...

The second photo with...
Just the clarify the photo of the ceiling block with the brown twisted wires is the old light I was removing so I was mid removing the wires, the brown twisted wires in the photo were inside the actual block but I unscrewed removed and took photo, but just imagine them inside the block.
Thanks for reply.
The photo of block in my hand is out of the box.
There are two wires going to the labelled earth, ones is fully green, the other is grey BUT with a green thread/string in it.
I am simply the unscrewing the wires out of the block in the hand photo and putting into the old...
Hi all,
New to forum, apologies if this is in wrong place.
Purchased a replacement ceiling chandler and wired up, but obviously wrong as fuse keeps tripping.
I've got the two green wires from light (hand photo) to green on curling fitting, where old yellow wire is.
Blue wire from light (hand...
