I need to source bollard lights for a dark path. They need to be solar powered, have downward light distribution, and a base plate capable of bolting

So many out there, I just haven't got the time to research..I will, of course, if i have to, but any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :)

Late to the show, but the boss of McGhee's was my neighbour for many years. I alwayd bought his rolls and as my daughter was friends with his two we often slagged him off about the missing apostrophe on some of the packaging. However...to today...and what did I do this morning? I got on an early...

BECSA Competent Person Scheme (CPS) Best online PAT testing course?

I called into local charity shop which is one of the few that accept electrical items. I asked if they needed someone to perform ISITEE or PAT. They directed me to their website and I applied online for a PAT job, on a voluntary basis...4 years on and I'm awaiting a reply. I applied to another...

BOSCH Serie 6 Washer Machine (induction Motor) making a loud scraping / arcing type noise on the wash / rinse cycle. Model is WAT 286H

Some of you may laugh at this, but I truly have had 3 of these problems in the last 10 years or so. They tend to be intermittent, and spinning the drum by hand sometimes produces the scraping noise...and sometimes it doesn't. The noise can appear anytime in the cleaning cycle, mat not appear...

Hello! My curtain rail has fallen off the wall! Yes, well not exactly an electrical fault then? No, but you fitted those ceiling lights last week (the ones with the tiny wee plastic terminal block and the rubber over-sleeve to make it Class 1) Ok, I'll be there in 10 minutes... Problem...

Time to change my energy supplier

I was with Bulb, ( I liked them!) then Octopus took over. I'm very happy with them. They did a good job of replacing my meter as the RTS is going off line soon. Since I got my smart meter they have reduced my monthly payments twice, so the algorithm seems to work ok for me. I am all-electric...

    House rewire-loft wiring & insulation

The wiring drops will be mostly vertical, through the insulation. Especially for LED lighting I wouldn't be bothered about derating a cable over its entire length if 6" went through the insulation.

    UK Call out charges

I don't get call-outs, but I know in my area it's £150, to include 30 minutes on site. I know this because a friend called me on a Sunday afternoon in a panic because dinner was in the oven and friends were due...and her kitchen lost all power. She called a local electrician and the above charge...

    House rewire-loft wiring & insulation

I like the cables away from the loft floor/insulation as much as possible, especially if flooring might be installed. On one job I attached timber battens along the sloping roof-timbers, about a metre above floor level, from end to end of the loft, both sides and attached all wiring to those...

UK External Lights - quality issue

These might be ok? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stainless-Recessed-Outdoor-Pathway-Bricklight/dp/B07T7JD6HD?th=1 However, it says marine grade stainles steel (304) but I'd be looking for 316. The spec actually mentions 316 but the blurb on the picture says 304. There are some Italian makers who sell...

    How many devices?

1 PC 1 Laptop 1 CCTV camera 1 Alexa 1 Phone and one other gadget I'm unwilling to disclose! I live a very simpled, non-automated life. If I want to switch a light on, I get up and go to the switch. If I want to switch my heating on when I'm away from home I used to phone my neighbour who also...

Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :)

I had a nice start to Father's Day, not that it's FD here in Spain, that's in July or August, I don't recall. Anyway, I had a long walk along the beach with my daughter, dipping my toes in the sea as we went. Then we went to my favourite local restaurant where she treated me to Full Scottish...

    Hole saw ?? Which ones

A "plumber" I once employed had a one size fits all gadget. I needed a 15mm copper pipe feeding a bathroom from an adjacent kitchen, plasterboard walls. he simply smashed his hammer through the plasterboard... I remonstrated with him saying maybe a 16mm drill bit would have been easier, faster...

Good to see you back here JK! What an interesting post too. I see that others have agreed with your view, and it's good to have such matters aired in public, so thank you!

My kid’s moving out! House buying.

Nothing moves smoothly in conveyancing in Scotland. It used to be amazing, but for the last 20 years it has just got worse and worse. There are many reasons for this, and the behaviour of lenders and all the money laundering stuff hasn't helped. The biggest problem is that many of the people...

Which sds drill brand or specs ?

I have a load of DeWalt cordless stuff and an elderly Ferm SDFS which is 20 years old and works fine for the occasional use. It was £49.99 and is a generic model sold under many different brands. I also have a wonderful Black and Decker D303R in its original metal box, 750W and used a lot over...
