We have a BOSCH Serie 6 Washer Machine (induction Motor) that making a loud scraping / arcing type noise on the wash / rinse cycle.

Model is WAT 286H0GB/62, Serial No. 430020508378003641

Here's a video:

No idea what's causing it... and this is the second machine we've had that's developed this fault (the BOSCH engineer scrapped the first one and gave us
a new machine as he couldn't diagnose the fault. Can't believe it's happened again

The noise is intermittent and seems to occur on heavier loads / higher water level (i.e. on rinse cycle), but not always and sometimes runs as normal. Have checked and there doesn't seem to be anything caught in the drum. The noise never occurs on spin so doubt it's bearings related. no error messages or burning smells, etc. Have anyone come across this before ? Any help would be appreciated as I'm a bit stuck.

Cheers!

Some of you may laugh at this, but I truly have had 3 of these problems in the last 10 years or so. They tend to be intermittent, and spinning the drum by hand sometimes produces the scraping noise...and sometimes it doesn't.

The noise can appear anytime in the cleaning cycle, mat not appear for a few days or more, then comes back again.

The cause, in my 3 cases, was always the same.
A wire from an underwired bra gets dislodged and it slips into a perforation on the drum.

"The noise never occurs on spin so doubt it's bearings related"? I don't understand the logic or the comment

I had exactly the same, managed to locate the bit that was stuck between the inner and outer drum and move it around by poking in bits of wire, eventually hit lucky and managed to remove it.
Hopefully it will eventually disintegrate (the bra wire not the drum).

Clue, is the wife lop sided?

The machine lasted another 3 years until the motor seized completely (unrelated to anything that I could see) at which point it was scrapped as it was over 10 years old (and a few sets of motor brushes later).
Apart from the replacement motor brushes it was very reliable.

Remove the door seal and look inside the outer drum for anything trapped.

I've had a coin bash a hole through the outer drum.
