Thanks Matt. Agree about IR testing however my point on this post is that the meter is still seeing 0.2A in the earth conductor even when there is no potential between L-N in the whole installation. I suspect there maybe current flowing in the system from the DNO's earth and the installations...
Visible TNS connection looks good (visible bit anyway). Disconnected EC from CU end and zero reading. Measured 0.1A on bonding conductor to gas though. Water not tested yet. Haven't carried out Ze yet (ran out of time) but will do on next visit.
Never experienced before on a domestic - I'm...
Called out today by new owners to a domestic 3 bed semi with history of nuisance RCD tripping from day 1 (lived there about a month). TNS. No dual supply. No regular pattern to tripping. Most appliances new.
First - Ramp Tested RCD unit with no loads = 25mA (can live with that). Popped...
I've had exactly the same problem today.

Capping (metal or plastic) only protects cables from the plasterers trowel and is not a form of recognised mechanical protection. As long as the cables are in the correct zone and are RCD protected then they are electrically compliant. Not sure about the reg that mentions workmanship tho.
Just completed the NVQ with XS training. Whole thing is very straightforward with their great online portfolio system. David provides great level of support where necessary. Would recommend this training provider to those that need/want this qualification.
Thanks to all at XS, Pete Mills

Also, when replacing a CU, unless there is an existing isolator fitted upstream of the DNO supply arrangements prior to the old CU it is not possible to carry out safe isolation with out breaking the seals, pulling the fuse and proving dead.
IMO,DNO's need to accept that their guidance on the...
They were pretty good, the policy they got me was with Zurich (with no 3phase loading) and they were up front about it so that's unusual with some insurance brokers.
First post so please be gentle
Just took out £2M PL insurance with Simply Business today.
Price was good (less than £100). Process was easy with no hidden restrictions (i.e. 3phase) and also no gimmicks (i.e free tool cover and PI insurance).
Better still - if you say i recommended you we...
