Clarifying The Fusion Plasma Confinement Improvement Mechanism

Scientists, as a result of measuring electric potential of JFT-2M tokamak plasma using the "Heavy Ion Beam Probe" and analyzing experimental data, have achieved the important result of clarifying the confinement improvement mechanism, which had been a riddle for the past thirty years. This confinement improvement mode is being used as the standard operation mode in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER).

If you're not much interested in plasma confinement in a Tokamak, you should be. This is the main hurdle between us here now and low-cost, low-risk, low emissions electricity generation without all the tedious and unsightly faffing round with wind farms and other low-density renewables (although Scotland did manage to power itself entirely by wind generation for the first time a few weeks ago.) Fusion is the way forward people, these guys deserve all the resources they need to fettle their big shiny doughnut into fine shape.
