Got to fit some sub meters and some sealable isolators for a landlord, anyone know where (apart from ebay) I can get seals and a crimper?

(on a side note, might also come in handy for this set of meter to CU tails upgrade I need to do.....SSE PD are saying its not their jurisdiction anymore...phone the supplier, and Scottish Hydro (the supplier) are saying its not theirs and it should be SSE PD ETB that deal with it...ARGHHHHH (thats better)...why bother trying to play by the rules when the people that set them have no clue?)

You need to keep your eyes open for a DNO's van parked up a dark back alley ......

Most of the DNO guys round here are massive....the only thing going "bump in the night" would be my head against the pavement....
Few years ago they wouldn't have batted an eye, now their ranks are a mix of "old school common sense" and little jobsworths who would do well in the tax office!

Landlord knows well that tenants like to meddle so wants seals on the isolator and the sub meters. Might have to be fleabay....(going off it rapidly.....a lot of cheap n nasty tools out there that don't work right...)

Our lives are plagued by tools of one sort or another that don't work right. ;)

Try the plastic "temporary" seals, no need for crimper. Wholesaler should do them.

ebay seals and a pair of pliers, or even bootlace crimper.

Dave: Thanks for that, but I want something metal, so its at least some form of a challenge for any tenants with ideas...

ideally as close in appearance to the DNO ones as possible...

Asked SSE what the procedure was for the removing the seal on the tail cover on the meter to upgrade the tails to 25mm2...no clue whatsoever....could tell me regarding the cutout (which I already knew) but not the meter...told to phone hydro....they had no clue what i was asking about and phoned SSE PD head office, who told them that the local depot should do it, local depot reckon its hydros job and nothing to do with them anymore as they are a separate division....and their interest dies at the cutout...

yep. fuse seals are DNO. meter seals are supplier.

Problem is...up until recently SSE PD did the lot on behalf of Hydro....now it seems to be changing and no one seems to know who is getting the job...
If it wasn't so stupid I would be in hysterics...
The Depot engineer was at least apologetic about it and realised it was an utter pain....
Then again my meter until my power cut recently had no seals on it and likely had not had any for decades....SSE PD sealed it then (well one of their engineers did in a fit of pique over my having a fused isolator in the meter box ready to connect in the meter box (which I had previously been told by them was ok)....got an apology from them for that stunt....told he would be spoken to "regarding his attitude and the proper use of discretion"

Could you use thin catenary wire/lighting support wire (available at CEF) and a red trough krimp?
I've even seen thin stranded wire on garage door locking mechanisms.

okay no worries, but they are the same you have to cut them off no difference.
