Just finishing a large job and the customer is moaning that her down lights flicker. They are tamlight fittings with fairly high quality GU10 LED lamps switched via hamilton 250w dimmers. only 9 or so per room. I have checked and all connections seem good and I cant see them flickering at all. Not sure what to do. p.s. the customer is probably the worst person I have ever worked for and am ready to strangle her. Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the tails aren't loose? I've had a loose connection on dno side aswell.

I will do. Im going back on Tuesday to try and resolve all snaggings. Seems strange though as they dont always do it.

You've probably already checked, but the switch is a trailing edge dimmer? Normal ones always flicker although not all the time.

I've had exactly this same issue on a new build - couldn't find anything remotely wrong on my side at all - massive voltage drops under fairly small loads making the lights flicker like a crimbo tree.

DNO are going to change their transformer to try to resolve as it's on their side.

You said the magic words "Hamilton switches". The site I'm working atm have fitted 2 x 3 gang grid switches in each room plus 1 x 2 gang (546 switches in total) and about 80 of them were faulty. Although yours are dimmers they are made by the same company, may be they are having differculties making switches that work?

Managed to sort it today. It was occuring when the kitchen pelmet and kick board lights were on. turns out the kitchen fitters fitted non dimmable lights. It was effecting all rooms after the kitchen on the radial circuit. very weird but appears to be sorted. On to the next snag on the list.
