Went to a job today and found someone had put a light switch in the bathroom (right next to the bath) also the 2 mains smoke alarms were taken off the ceiling and the state of the wiring in the spotlights well dont get me started the customer said his daughter bought the house about 6 months ago so I said who had this before her then it wasnt some of our eastern european cousins was it . YES it was he said ! how did you know that well I would like to think it was a lucky guess but I do work for a letting agent I said and for some reason they will argue with you that what is the problem with having a switch or a socket in a bathroom because in my country and I always but in and say well you are in mine now so just go along with the way we do things. Customer said so is this a problem then ? well a Romanian lost his wife and baby in Glasgow last year because he lashed an extention lead above the bath with an electric heater because you see in my country............................ Ah said the customer so whats with the smoke detectors well I said for some reason they would rather rip the thing of the ceiling to silence it than buy a battery hence why house fire are on the rise in Edinburgh yes but they are hard workers he said well yep their cheap as well but then again when they go back home they dont give a ---- how safe they left the job in hence why you have got me out to sort this mess out and by the way in 2 years time I will still be here (god willing)

Not a bad rant for a Monday evening! A while ago I suggested that the public still needed to be reminded that electricity, uncontrolled, can be deadly. Some thought that surely the public already knew that. Very few people mess around with gas, you can smell it and it needs a spark and air mixture to make it explosive. Exposed live conductors can sit undetected for however long

So what happened to the saying when in Rome do....................................... and also this is not racist we are having more incidents like this but it is with people trying to replace our culture and laws with theirs . Then again some of these guys are here for the quick buck and in my view just do not care.
