This thread may seem abit over the top...compared to some of the terrible pictures that are posted on this website. I realise, the 3 photographs im about to post are probably what everyone sees on at least a monthly bases nowadays.

The reason i've put these photographs on here - are just to illustrate the struggle us time served sparks are starting to have with the average joe/mong/davidwcockburn medalling with our trade. These pictures are from a job i went to today...'The caravan was tripping out'

Picture 1 - The CU, that's genuinley how i found it. The wire coiled up dangling freely was squashed against the wall by a hoover and it was live, still connected - why an earth someone wouldn't disconnect it if it's not being used for anything is beyond me. But the more worrying thing was, where is the CU lid ? I have no idea either.

Picture 2 & 3 - Forgetting the grey t+e outside for a minute, where the hell has peoples pride in their work gone? It's like spaghetti junction. Does my head in. As i was always taught - Don't do anything you wouldn't be happy with yourself.

Now, The old lady who had me in told me 'her grandsons friend' did it middle of last year, which tells me one thing...not qualfiied. This is the reason for this post, more and more shoddy work is going to appear unfortunatley. More work for us, but still why couldn't we be called in the first place.

The caravan park have kindly offered to re-home the old lady for tonight and pay for the cost of the repairs themselfs. Hense why i just locked it off and left it until tomorrow.

I realise them 3 are tame compared to the disasters we see on here - it just really annoyed me today lol. Hense the rant you lads have recieved from me :) appologies.

Ohh and i forgot the most important point...the old lady told me her grandsons friend said "the CU will be fine like that as long as you don't touch it"

She had apparantly queried it. Feel sorry for clients these days getting fed dangerous info by complete idiots.

You can sleep at night and get recommendations from their friends.

The muppet who did this is a not going to get many recommendations.

Mate this is nothing new......I've been in the trade since leaving school 35yrs ago,and hand on heart I've not noticed any increase in shoddy work relatively,it's always been there. There's more work being done now,and the wiring systems in use are easier to do shoddily than the older systems, which demanded more skills, other than that there's always been shoddy work.

Maybe its just me then - starting to get more and more 'rectification' jobs. Maybe its because my reputation is slightly growing, im not sure (hopefully) But im definitley seeing more of this than i ever have before. Maybe you've just been round the block far too many times wirepuller :p and 35 years is slightly longer than me, i salute you for having the patience for so long in this trade lol.

Yeah it is poor, had to fit a new CU...literally have no idea where the lid was, nor did the client for that matter. It's been like that since she had her extra sockets and heaters 'installed' (slung in). Im guessing whoever was there before me hasn't been able to fit the lid because theres that much crap added poorly, and hes just stuck his terrible test sticker above on the wall. (no initials on it or company name just a date)
