The idea is fellow electricians, plumbers and tilers can share their issues, find cheaper suppliers, cheaper vans, cheaper insurances using the power of people. There are lots of ways to get into the industries through governmental schemes which and often the forum can help point you in the right direction in training or retraining later in life. There are some dodgy ‘training companies’ that do scam people out of thousands who end up with the wrong qualification for what they wanted to do, or only part of a qualification, being miss-sold completely, or just downright poor quality training centres. To dodge those, always ask in the forums when you’re training to make sure the company you are speaking to is legitimate.
Then there are the DIY weekend warriors who get help from fellow DIYers and even the odd tradesperson will chip in too when they have time.
And the best of all, they’re all communities in their own rights. Helping each other out in times of need (van broken into, need tools please etc) and having each others back in times of misfortune (customers not paying up!).
