I'm homeowner and moved into a property which has 25 halogen downlights, I'm hoping to get an electrician to replace these with LED ones, what sort of cost am I looking at excluding the materials?
Without needing to enlarge cutouts, I should be able to find something which fits in the existing holes.

I'm posting here because if the cost is of my reach for the time being, I can just get on with ones we have till I gather some funds without wasting peoples time to come over and giving quotes.

Thanks.

Have you investigated whether they are 230v downlights or 12v downlights with a transformer?
Have you considered just swapping the bulbs to LED?

Yes they are 12v downlights with a transformer, I tried swapping them with a GU5.3 LED but they start flickering, I read Phillips bulbs apparently don't flicker but I thought best to get them all replaced with GU10s and have a fresh start.

I can swap them myself but not sure if this is permitted nor I have necessary knowledge and equipment to test the work.

£250 ish is what I was hoping for, thanks for the replies.

£10 a light assuming no nasties like really short cables that all need extending then the job becomes much longer, £250 would be my best price, I wouldn't bother for less

What i tend to do is simply cut the old light off if there is lots of nice slack on the cables and then stick a click flow on the ends. then flow on a bit if 1mm flex and then flex to light.
15 mins per light

obviously i will be charging for the flex and connectors

Swap the lamps to led you also need to swap the transformers for drivers and change the switch if its a dimmer
Sure. My thinking was the size of this task depends on whether the customer wants to retain a 12v setup or not. I was only intending to suggest swapping lamps if they were 230v.
