C.K tools or Knipex

What are people's preferences? starting to build a toolbox of things i need and got a Knipex combi plier and Knipex wire stripper. But yesterday went to toolshop and felt some CK tools and felt a lot nicer, the knipex tools seem to have thicker handles. wasn't super happy when I used the wire stripper but was okay, any preferences??

Knipex wire stripper / cutter is my favourite item.

However CK stuff is a close second.

I think a combination of the two as both have flaws for me on some.

I use a combination of both. Can't live without the knipex cable shears and have CK pliers. Both makes are of good quality and that is reflected in the price. I suggest go with the ones you feel comfortable with and mix and match. If just starting out, Your main cutters be it side,cropper or shears will still hurt the same when stripping cable and the cpc breaks resulting in the classic punch yourself in the face senario!!!

CK and Knipex are rubbish tools in my personal opinion, CK especially the snips are just too bulky-ended

ive had bacho since forever, love them and will keep on buying, i just suppose its what you get used to isnt it?

I see some people who rock up to site using £2 B&Q specials, from that very instant you know exactly what type of electrician they are

If you're referring to yourself then count me in also, lost all my tools a couple of months ago! I am now labouring for a mate and building from scratch. Incidentally I bought a CK kit to start me off.

My Ck nips are still ok all the rest of it has snapped or rounded off....
Im still cheerful!!! It was cheap.........

lindstrom or bahco same co really but quality tools,not cheap but last..ive got a some lindstrom cutters for control wiring,little things,£30 in 1991,still going strong.tho i show them respect and only use the lad sparingly he is old..

I bought a set of bahco cutters they were awfull (the orange 180mm with the switchable spring loaded handle) but i have a hacksaw from bahco and the blade is STILL GOING STRONG so i will definately invest in a set of blades from them ( 24tooth ) but bar that ive heard good things from bahco and i think a site toolmanyeardley sell a wide range of electrical/bahco tools which is very good having ordered from them in the past. I bought my old man a set of knipex long nose pliers for his trade ,Mechanic, and ive converted him, For my side cutters i use a set of stanley 200mm cutters 3 yesars going strong but ck are next on the list

you want some 180 ergo's black and orange,quality cutters,the 160s are a decent addition too for smaller work

Ye thats the one mate although ive only ordered online its a very good site they seem to specialize in electrical tools which is great for us sparks i was actually recommended to it by a fellow spark its brilliant

Sounds good i normally use the 180s for most of my work seeing as i used to have bad wrists the 180s give more leverage but i was going to buy a smaller connecting set so ill look into it cheers mate always good to get a heads up before buying especially from fellow sparks nice one man

good set mate i use ck drivers but irazola are big in my firm also bahco drivers are getting more of a presence

I don't rate Bacho's electrical stuff as any greater then CK's (I use and swear by CK). I do however use Bacho stuff for anything else whether it be ergo's, saws, files, chisels, levels etc... I swear by my 319 and one of the best buys I have ever made was the new(ish) EX-RM saw system. Any of those blades will outlast any other saw 4x over! And you get the worlds sturdiest and most comfortable saw handle ever! Left or right handed even.

Kew Technik tools appear to have gone out of fashion. However, I've got a set of Kew Technik VDE screwdrivers I bought in the early 1980s. The insulation is nigh on bulletproof, the tips exceptionally strong without being bulky and they are still in serviceable condition and in everyday use.
