    PAT testing without unplugging anything?

This is a clear case of "making it up" - the witness report suggests that nothing has been tested or inspected as nothing has been unplugged. Unfortunately it does happen. Recommend getting the business manager to contact said PAT company to explain nothing has been tested and get the engineer...

to PAT or not to PAT

If you already have a foot in the door with the hotel then chances are the price isn't going to matter too much; sell it on what you need it to be - so how long do you expect to be on site for example. How many rooms in the hotel, how many appliances in each room, what the access is like. Make...

    Pat testing

I thought this may interest you guys - this CD player was connected to the power. It was in use in a wet environment that is accessed by children and adults! The previous PAT tester had done nothing wrong (that was me); someone had clearly dropped this and decided to continue using it. Luckily I...

    Pat testing

Your client has used the cable he had for his strimmer and made it into an extension lead. Leads for strimmers and lawnmowers generally don't have an earth. I have seen this many times before.

    Pat testing

Hi, A kettle is a class 1 item; you should be able to get the earth clip onto the element inside the kettle. An extension lead in the UK should always be class 1 and be treated as such.

British Association of Portable Appliance Testers

I've just been followed on twitter by BAPAT which I've never heard of before, has anyone else heard of it? It's totally new to me and I wonder if it is genuine or another fake 'official' PAT Testing group.

    Guild of PAT Testers

It's amazing how much outcry this thread has caused, but what I think is brilliant is that how many people have the same opinion as me, which is not the same opinion as a person that has created the 'guild of pat testers' which just goes to show what a joke it was in the first place. Do you know...

    Guild of PAT Testers

The Guild of PAT Testers has gone very quiet all of a sudden, has he crawled back into his hole? I was thinking, seeing as there are so many people on here with the same feelings, perhaps we should consider setting up some kind of group/guild to help each other, and of course, our clients...
