Hi all
Looking for some wisdom
I installed a Hypervolt charger (the most recent model which is no longer available for direct purchase fr Hypervolt)
It’s on a smart octopus setup
Works perfectly fine on scheduled charge
But when doing an Octopus ‘bump charge’ , Hypervolt says voltage falls...
Might be one with three pole rather than 4 pole - didn’t think of that - thanks
But still looks they have almost all the load on one phase, with a 63A mcb for the entire house. (Which could be argued is not my problem, if I’m only quoting for solar work completion)
Hi
I popped round to quote for ‘ finishing ‘ a solar install started by a company rhyming with Bird of Polar . The house has a three phase supply, but it looks like someone has taken the three live tails into board not designed for three phase (albeit with a three pole switch).
They’ve only...
Thanks. As mentioned I tried to find why the power was not going to sockets. They cables appear to run up to the ceiling, and into a loft that I can’t get into (it’s a bungalow with very low roof truss) the one part of the loft I can get into doesn’t have anything I can see related to problem...
The neighbours are doing that to start with and contacting gas board - as no paperwork left
And I did think all the above sorted before looking into problem circuit
Ps from
What I understand the previous consumer unit was a fuse type board, and was ‘upgraded’ to allow a solar install
I couldn’t find any listing of the solar company on NiCEIC or NAPIT.
All kinds of wrong really and does need to be properly sorted.
I’m also wondering if I can take over solar monitoring (it’s a solar edge system which I am certified on) to prevent further ‘monitoring, by them
I was asked to see why a set of sockets weren’t working in the house (which appear to be a ring circuit based on breakers)
There was no power on either leg in any of the sockets.
Cables appear to run down from loft, which is totally inaccessible unless you are a small child in any of the rooms...
Thanks - yes have asked if they can change to TNCS - 4-6 week lead time apparently
To sign off the work, I’d need to have visual site of adequate earthing and not just an ok reading - I don’t think Im being too ---- about this am I?
Been asked to do some rewiring, and have said needs upgrade of consumer unit really
Main question is regarding earthing - Zs reads at 0.45 ohms (which suggests at TNS) But cannot see where earth cable goes to from old fuseboard.
There is no earth to fuse carrier or cable to fuse carrier in...
I guess a proper discussion with client is due. Of note, the reason why I didn’t look as thoroughly as I should have first time is that there was full electrical NICEIC branded installation certificate posted up next to board downstairs . Will need to check when that was signed off and if they...
