    flickering downlights only with dimmer

I put a new standard switch the other end but the flickering is still there and the dimmer is still noisy, I might try a diff dimmer but Denmans reckon they don't often get them returned.

    flickering downlights only with dimmer

thanks for the replies, I phoned Denmans today and they said they don't sell a 500W dimmer, the next size up is around 1KW and expensive. I'm thinking there's something else causing the flickering but can't think what if all the lights are steady on with normal 2way switches. AJ

    flickering downlights only with dimmer

I fitted 5 Click 50W 240V downlights and a Click 400W dimmer. The dimmer failed after short time. I just tried a 400W dimmer from Denmans but it flickers badly more so when on turned round to the fully on position. There is a normal 1 gang two way switch at one side of the room and the dimmer is...

    elec cert

I had 1st & 2nd fix on my extension done by a local sparks. It has taken about a month to get a cert from him even though he was paid in full, and even now it is dated incorrectly so I am waiting again now for a replacement. I got 3 pieces of paper;- 1) Schedule of Test Results, 2) Electrical...

    who can certify?

thanks fellas I'll wait a while longer meanwhile may enquire anonymously at Building Control to see what the options are. I have a pretty good photo record of the wiring, so another sparks might do it if push comes to shove. As far as I know it's ok but then that's not my area of expertise. Does...

Thanks I'll give him another week then try that as I want to get it all signed off. I can't understand why he has gone awol. He seemed alright but after I mentioned getting a cert he has not come back like he said he would. He also messed up on the smoke detector cabling but that not too major...

    2nd fix charges

My electrician has given me a steep bill for second fix. It's a 2 storey extension with garden room on the g/floor + small utility room and shower room, then 2 beds upstairs + landing. In all 16 double sockets, 3 single sockets, 1 fused outlet, 2 wall fans, 16 12v downlights, 9x 240v...
