Garden lights... IP68 + vermin protection

First problem: That box is not suitable for outside use. It isnt sealed in any respect. The fixing holes at the back will let in water and (as I can see) the top knock out has pushed in allowing more wet + critters to nestle in there. There are proper junction boxed for burying. eg PRATLEY...

    Correct Conduit Assistance

Products that have an IP rating are certified as a single assembled unit. Conduit and accessories will be put together by whoever (you in this case). So the resulting resistance to any external influence will be down to the quality of your expertise! I'm guessing that this work will...

    Small garage circuit

Better to adapt/convert the house CU so that the garage is fed from an MCB that is not RCD-protected. (aka a "high-integrity" CU - who invented that ridiculous title?) Locate the RCD at the garage end to replace the isolation switch. Then, if there is an earth fault, that will only trip the...

    RCD testing

Biannual” means occurring twice in one year, and “biennial” means happening once every two years;)

    RCD testing

The time interval between tests has increased. the regularity has decreased. Einstein understood these things.

    RCD testing

If you look at it as the number of tests required in a year. An RCD test every 3 months is 4. An RCD test every 6 months is 2. So, a decrease in occurrence of the test.

    Economy 7 supply

If you were using a regular digital multimeter then you will see spurious voltages like this. Those tester things are very high impedance and will pick up stray voltages because of inductance effects between connected cables. Hang any sort of load (eg shunt reseistor) between the two...

EICR, no 3A fuse for a fan

I dont go maintaining/cleaning my fans at night time, so I (radical I know) wander over to the consumer unit and turn off the MCB for the circuit that powers the fan.

EICR, no 3A fuse for a fan

Yes, but that’s for stuff like lathes, not a bathroom fan.

EICR, no 3A fuse for a fan

How would you code it if there's no isolation switch? Don't remember a reg for that...:confused1:
