Testing a set of offices today and each floor is fed from the switch fuses (?) in the basement.
There is a separate set of fuses for each floor in a Ryefield board but I am trying to date the overall installation.
The switch fuses are as shown and I suspect contain asbestos - and before anyone asks, no I haven't opened them.
Any thoughts?50384

I was apprentice in the sixties and those or similar would have been around at that time

I suspect they have BS88 fuses in them, there seems to be a few spares knocking about. Picture isn't clear but I wouldn't have said they were Bill. Crack on and open one up.

These are a damn site older than those and contain no asbestos.

I would say 70s as the red-yellow blue, note the spare fuses, you dont get that now!!

They are English Electric

The design was around for a while I think, so it might not be possble to date them that accurately. It's the EE 'Combination' Fuse-Switch. (fuse-switch, because the fuses are part of the moving switch assembly, as opposed to switch-fuse where they are separate). I don't recall much asbestos (maybe the door gasket if there is one) but it's a while since I worked on them, I think one ouf our installations still has a few. Hmm, not being much help here, sleep needed...

Hi I've just seen this picture...I've just come across these at a papermill...can you get a modern equivalent.
Thanks Mick
Yes.
Three phase as per the ones in the photo?

1960S at best, although they are on a trunking probably from the 70s, I doubt they are less than 50 years old
