Hi,
Another newbie here. I’m a mature career changer, having worked in HM Forces & the emergency services before.
Now working for a ground works company & looking to get trained up as an electrician.
Cheers, npg
Did something happen to the forum?
It's back now, but for some time this morning, just a bit before this post the whole site appeared unavailable.
I could get other sites no problem, it just seemed to be this site, was it just me/my connection or did it occur to others as well?
I was thinking it would be cool if the forum set up an unoffical discord server for people to join and chat.
When I was studying for my Cisco CCNA I was in the reddit discord server and it was a fantastic resource for learning. Thought it would be cool to set one up for the forum here. Even if...
Why have I started getting a Ladbrokes advert at the top of the screen? Very annoying. I'm signed in.
Anyone else seeing this? Or am I special? Don't answer that.
Looking to start up my own business as an Electrician after sometime off my tools working as a Project Manager at a Food Manufacturers in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Looking forward to the future and picking up the skills I had gained as an apprentice and Approved Electrician.

Hello! New to the forum. Always looking for tips, hints, and helpful advice on home repairs and projects. I'm a wood worker and saw dust maker at heart, a DYI'er by necessity ever since we purchased our first home back in 1978.
Just thought I would say hi to everyone on this forum. I am David 45 from Northampton and was just wondering if this career would be a good choice at my age? Been in injection moulding tool setting and automotive engineering for most of my working life. Looking for a change of careers. Any...
I work in building compliance, so had a question I would like answering. On a new development, our contractor has fitted a consumer unit with isolator switch in a flat. The meter tails are hanging down and pose a risk if a child swings on them. Can the tails be covered over? The contractor has...

Hello everyone, I'm a new homeowner member and would be really grateful for some advice as I know virtually nothing about electrics. My question/worry involves two single ovens I've just had fitted that the electrician has plugged into a double socket. There is also an isolation switch fitted...

Hi, New member to the forum.
I specialise in telecoms sites installing the electrics to roadside, roof top and greenfield 4g and 5g sites. after 32 years with the Swalec and WPD started up myself in 2016 and have been flat out ever since roaming the country installing sites.
Guys and gals, I am looking for a tool bag now that I have gotten all my basic hand tools.
I do a lot of moving around on site, up and down stairs etc. I do not want a toolbox because they are awkward and are a pain in the rear to put into a site box at the end of the day.
I am looking for...
