Is it possible for the board to archive threads after say 3 months of no replies?
I spent a while reading through a thread this morning that some newbie had offered his advise.
OK I didn’t check the start date, but who does? The thread was three years old. The job is hopefully finished by now.

Depends how you mean archived. Completely removed no. But locked would be a good idea.

Locked is a good idea, if someone has a very similar question/problem then maybe at request be unlocked.

Not a problem locking old threads. If you see any that you think should be, report it and we can act accordingly.

Yes agree but 6months in my mind to bed the thread as some threads bounce back about 3 - 4 months, but not too much longer as the advise given will contradict all the new ammendents to regs that appear to generate money for the goverment, ive dropped on old threads myself giving advice a year or 2 back which is out of date advice and yes does take a while to click sometimes.

Cheers Jason, but what I was thinking was an automatic time limit. There must be 1000’s of redundant threads by now, to lock them individually just isn’t practical.
I know I was administrator for a site.

As I said, most of the history sites I use have this set up. The threads are still accessible but no new comments are allowed, this stops a newbie disrupting the time line of the forum.

I don't find it annoying when someone bumps an old thread :)

Very funny Marvo.

You haven’t explained why some poll based threads are being automatically bumped. Threads that can be used to target marketing.

Very funny Marvo.....
Aw, I was bored and I thought it was mildly amusing.

I haven't got the foggiest why certain threads are bumped, I can only speculate it because of them being returned in Google search results. I can assure you it's got nothing to do with any marketing drive...well at least as far as I know anyway. I do keep and eye on suspicious activity and many of the members doing the bumping are well established with a respectable post count.
